Candidate Bios

District 1

David Weaver: Dave is a lifelong public servant who is committed to giving law enforcement the tools they need to keep our streets safe. As a former DougCo Sheriff and Commissioner, as well as U.S. Marshal, he will ensure our law enforcement professionals have necessary resources while guaranteeing their ability to work with other agencies and federal partners. 

Jack Hilbert: a former parker Town Councilman and DougCo Commissioner, Jack is known as a no-nonsense, pro-private property conservative with a record of cutting unnecessary and burdensome regulations. He will uphold our local principles while respectfully advocating for the right to determine how our land is used. 

Sheriff Darren Weekly: The law-and-order candidate, Sheriff Weekly is committed to protecting the lives and property of Douglas County residents. He knows first-hand how Denver-centric policies bring more crime – and criminals – to the county and will work to ensure the inherent rights of law-abiding residents will not be infringed.  

Jack Gilmartin: Jack Gilmartin is committed to transparency and public input. The youngest candidate for Home Rule Commission, Jack brings a fresh perspective and commitment to modernizing how government can best serve the residents of the county. He is a member of our Armed Forces and concurrently serves as a Legislative Aide. 

Assessor Toby Damisch: As Douglas County Assessor, Toby brings his strong understanding of taxes, fees, and the numerous unfunded mandates Denver regularly imposes on Douglas County. He will make sure we have more control over how taxes are levied and will push back against government overreach.  

Laura Hefta: As a non-partisan member of the Parker Town Council, Laura has a record of working across the aisle and bringing people together while serving the needs and desires of local Douglas County residents. 

District 2

Jennifer E. Green: As a former non-partisan Mayor of Castle Rock, Jen is known as a thoughtful representative of the people with a history of working across the aisle to find consensus and common-sense solutions. 

State Rep. Max Brooks: Max knows all about state overreach; as a Castle Rock Town Councilman and State Representative, he sees firsthand how the State Legislature continues to erode local control while pushing Denver-centric agendas that do not represent the priorities of Douglas County voters. 

Tom J. Wiens: A lifelong steward of Douglas County and its residents, Tom is known as a thoughtful statesman with a deep understanding of land use issues and the inherent rights of private property owners. A former State Representative and State Senator, as well as a rancher and entrepreneur, Tom believes the best of Douglas County is ahead of us and will work to protect our values, priorities, and way of life.  

Tim Dietz: A fierce advocate of conservative governance, Castle Rock Town Councilman Tim Dietz is known for cutting red tape and keeping taxes low while supporting our law enforcement and pushing against government overreach. 

Treasurer David Gill: As Douglas County Treasurer, Dave years of experience as an auditor. He has been – and remains – a fierce advocate for lower taxes and smaller government.

District 3

Robin Webb: An education activist with a heart of service, Robin is an advocate for parental rights and pro-family values. She will focus on protecting private property rights and individual liberties while upholding conservative principles.  

Frank McNulty: Frank has an unmatched record of service to the residents of Douglas County. As the former Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, he is committed to giving Douglas County the legal tools to stand up for our community and push back when government goes too far. 

Monica A. Wasden: Monica serves the residents of Highlands Ranch where she is known as a fair, unbiased, and open-minded advocate for residents while serving as the Board Chair of HRCA. She will work to protect the rights of DougCo residents from government overreach and will ensure local voices are heard when determining how they want to be governed.  

Matthew Burcham: A finance professional and family man, Matt is committed to putting decisions back where they belong – right here in Douglas County. Instead of one-size fits all laws from Denver, Matt will work to give our community the freedom to govern ourselves based on our values, priorities, and way of life.  

Ted Harvey: From mask mandates to mandated land-use and over-regulation of small businesses, Ted has been a consistent fighter for local voices. As a former State Representative and State Senator, he will work to ensure Douglas County values are represented on our commission while protecting individual liberty and the right of self-determination. 

Daniel Brown: Dan is a community activist with decades of experience and service on local non-profits and community boards. He will bring a fresh perspective to the commission while ensuring full transparency and opportunity for public input. 

At-Large

Kevin Van Winkle: A former State Representative, State Senator, and current Commissioner, Kevin is committed to protecting Douglas County from Legislative overreach. 

Abe Laydon: An attorney, loving father, thoughtful conservative, and current Commissioner, Abe will work to protect Douglas County values and way of life.

George Teal: George is pro-family, pro-liberty, and pro-local control. A former Castle Rock Town Councilman and current Commissioner, George supports limited government and the defense of our God-given rights.
